What the Reviewer's say

"The book is well written and explanation for individual topics has been given vividly, usually this vividness is expected for any Electromagnetics book which involves many mathematical expressions and derivations. In this book many advanced topics have been dealt with in detail like forces and energy in the static and quasi-static magnetic field."

About The Book
Description:
Primarily intended for the undergraduate students of industrial, production, mechanical and manufacturing engineering, and postgraduate students of industrial, quality engineering and management and industrial engineering and management, this book fills the gap between theory and practice of tools and techniques of quality control and quality improvement. In this book, the principles and concepts are presented clearly and logically with necessary numerical illustrations to reinforce the understanding of the subject matter.

The book is organized in two parts. Part I deals with statistical quality control. It starts with the fundamentals of statistics and quality followed by elaborate discussion on statistical process control, process and gauge capability studies with emphasis on their practical application. It also covers detailed discussion on the various types of control charts used to monitor and control quality of processes and products. It includes acceptance sampling inspection procedures and standard sampling systems. Part II deals with quality improvement techniques/methods. It is a data driven approach that discusses the application of Design of Experiments and Taguchi Methods for improving quality of processes and products. A comprehensive discussion on total quality management is also presented.

KEY FEATURES

• Provides a well structured procedure for the application of all the tools and techniques.

What the Reviewer's say

"The book is extremely useful to students and teachers having interest in the design and innovation in processes of metal production as well as its characterization. The book is written in an easy to understand style, thereby enabling one to understand the fundamentals of metallurgical processes with reference to the physic-chemical properties and flow of the substance(s) involved therein. Since long back, a need for such book might be experienced by so many academicians and the book is nothing but, an attempt in the direction. The book is extremely useful in order to understand the kinetics of metallurgical reactions, which is supposed to be a complex, interdisciplinary subject."

About The Book

Description:
Natural resource management and sustainable development has, of late, assumed great importance, especially because of ecological crisis and environmental dangers which are looming large. Today the issues related to natural resource exploitation, consequences, their conservation, preservation and management leading to sustainable development have become the major thrust areas of teaching and research. Also, sustainability of natural resources, especially water and land resources, and their efficient use is one of the core programmes of Government of India’s Twelfth Five Year Plan (2012–2017) for strategic development; this objective can only be achieved if the resources are used judiciously.
Although land and water resources—the focus of the present book—are vital for human survival and development, unfortunately both are under threat and are increasing strain worldwide. These resources have wide and significantly varying implications in rural and urban settlements, especially in India, where population has been continuously growing and, therefore, the demand of land and water is intensifying. This has necessitated urgent need for reviewing the availability of land and water resources and their conservation.
Besides dealing with the theoretical aspects, this compendium presents case studies on natural resources as well, which reveal ground realities at micro and meso levels too. Pedagogical features like maps, diagrams, satellite imageries and latest database of the primary and secondary nature distinguish this book from other works on the subject.
The book will be of immense use to postgraduate students and research scholars of geography and related disciplines such as rural–urban studies and environmental science. The thematic approach of the book provides reasonably good contents for cogitation to researchers. Policy makers, planners and academicians may also be benefitted while framing futuristic norms which may lead to sustainable development—the ultimate goal.

AUDIENCE

• Postgraduate students and Research Scholars of Geography.
• Policy makers, Planners and Academicians

What the Reviewer's say

"I have introduced to this book quite accidentally, by a local bookseller, M/s Cosmo Books, Thrissur.

I have been teaching the subject"Gas Dynamics and Jet Propulsion" for final year Mechanical Students. I found this book very useful from the student's point of view, explanations were very clear and straight forward, numerical examples were up to the point,on the whole I have adapted this book as my main source later on.
